Ask your daughter about the "Pumpkin Dance". We are practicing our new dancing skills while telling the story of a mouse dancing in a pumpkin patch. The children can probably tell you the story and show you some of the steps. I really encourage them to "practice" what they learn at home. It reinforces the lessons and it builds confidence. I am all about giving children as much confidence as possible.
Trying to give the children a bigger picture of what ballet is, I talk to them about grownup dancers and how they tell stories with their dancing and not with their mouths. Last month we told the story of Cinderella with music and movement. We will be teaching a Thanksgiving story in November, too.
We will soon be learning Christmas dances. So, be on the look out for Christmas recital dates and times which will be coming soon.
